Li Chen

Originally from Guangzhou, China, Li Chen is a multimedia artist currently based in the Bay Area, California. Her multimedia works have been shown at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, SOMARTS Gallery, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the San Francisco Film Society Film Arts Forum.

She got her O1 visa (aliens of extraordinary ability) in 2013. She is a recent alumni of the highly competitive and prestigious Eddie Adams workshop for photojournalists, has been awarded the Murphy and Cadogan Fellowships in the Fine Arts from San Francisco Foundation and a scholarship to the 2011 Society of Photography Education Regional Conference.  She has served as a judge at the 38th Telluride International Film Festival and at the Journalism Education Association’s national high school journalism convention. 

Her multimedia projects have been featured by major press publications in China, including The Guangzhou Daily, Global Times and 21CN. Her upcoming publications include Origami Journal (Summer 2013 Issue),Moholyground Magazine, and Open Show (Summer 2013).  

She works as a photographer for several Chinese periodicals, including Humanities Era, World View and South Reviews; and some organizations in America, including Kadist Art Foundation, Asian Contemporary Arts Consortium, Walter and McBean Galleries.
